We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support our attorneys by managing administrative tasks, coordinating schedules, and assisting with legal documentation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage attorney schedules, including coordinating meetings, court appearances, and client appointments.
- Handle incoming communications such as calls, emails, and correspondence.
- Maintain and organize legal files and records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and motions.
- File legal documents with courts or relevant agencies in a timely manner.
- Assist with preparing contracts, agreements, and other client-related documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and gathering required information.
- Coordinate casework by managing deadlines, tracking progress, and organizing case-related materials.
- Assist with research using platforms like LexisNexis or Westlaw.
- Schedule depositions, witness interviews, and mediation sessions.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing exhibits and preparing briefs.
- Perform general office duties, including maintaining supplies and handling billing or invoicing tasks.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a legal setting.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court filing processes, and legal documentation.
- Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Discretion and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
